I stumbled apon these amazing cinemagraphs by Jamie Beck from From Me To You. They are so amazing and I wish I knew how to create my own. Beautiful and mystical!

first there were stripes... and now polka-dots

Maybe you remember my post about striped straws. Well, you now get them to polka-dots too. Aren't they darling?!?

If I could afford them, these dresses would be the staple in my wardrobe

I came across a Kate Spade idiom bangle the other day (the one right at the top) and was instantly in love. So I went to peruse her site and found about 50 other things I would love to own. Not everything is my taste, but stay tuned to see a few of the things I adored.

hand lettering

What I wouldn't give to be able to do hand lettering like these amazing people. Mmm, a girl can dream.

On a slightly different note, I was going to put links to all these peoples amazing websites so you could check out their work too (hence the numbers), but I had copied and pasted all the details into notepad, keeping it for later when I did finally got to this post. But stupid me didn't save it and my pc somehow restarted itself and not it's all gone :P. If you know who any of these are by (or if it's your work), let me know and I will post a link.

The only one I do know for certain is number 3 & 4 are the fabulous Jessica Hische (oh and don't you just loooove her domain name!)

We are officially home owners :)

Yesterday the registration for our house went through at the deeds office. So our names are officially on the legal documents! Still can't believe we are lucky and blessed enough to own our own home. We are enjoying every moment of it and are settling in nicely. These are some photos of our kitchen and living room. Stay turned for more of the house :)

our one year anniversery

Wow, Rudi and I have already been married a year. I can't believe it! The past year has been so busy and full of change. That's why we decided to get as far away from it all over the weekend (our anniversary was on Sunday) and just relax. We went off to the Koue Bokkeveld, just outside Ceres and stayed at Berg & Dal Guest Cottages. It was fabulous.

It's tucked away in a valley and there is no electricity, no cell reception, no tv, no pcs and very few people. It was a weekend filled with just sitting staring out of over the beautiful view, reading, enjoying a glass of wine while the sun sets and long chats next to the fire*. All in all a very enjoyable weekend.

* It was so dark and quiet there that we actually had trouble sleeping. Who would have thought :)

blue bird

Thursday we took a break from all the unpacking to go down to the beach.

what a busy week - the move

Wow, this week was crazy. We packed, moved and unpacked and now I'm officially smashed.

Last weekend we were supposed to start moving, but due to some unfinished business on our builders side the house wasn't 100% so we opted to let them finish everything on Monday before we moved in. So what was going to be a very hectic weekend turned into a great breather, with us doing very little but packing the last few things and going for a leisurely breakfast and a walk around Hout Bay Harbour on Sunday morning. Not moving over the weekend turned into a really blessing as we could just relax a little (for the first time is a long while) and gather our strength for the week ahead.

{Our old place all packed up}

The move went very well and in the last 4 days we've managed to unpack everything and get our house in order. It was great and I realised that we, in fact, don't have that much stuff so it was much easier than expected. I'm going to try to keep it this way by only having things that are useful or beautiful.

{Our stuff in our new house}

I can't believe we are finally in our own little house. I'm smitten! It's so much bigger than we thought (all our furniture fits in perfectly with space to spare) and it's so pretty! I think it will take a while for it to sink in that we actually own our own home. We are so greatful and blessed.

{Our first cup of tea and a very tired dog}

More photos to come :)
