a picnic on the beach, breackfast in hout bay, whales at misty cliffs and indigenous plants at cape point
This weekend we has some friends from Bloem come to visit. Wanting to show them why they should move down to our beautiful part of the world we arranged a picnic on Blouberg beach on Friday afternoon. Amazing chocolate and coffee wine from Diemersfontein, nice snacks and a beautiful view where the order of the day. The wind was blowing a bit and it was a little chilly, but we cuddled up under our blankets and watched the waves crashing on the rocks.
On Saturday we took them to our favourite little bistro (La Cuccino) for breakfast. I had their cinnamon french toast which was to die for (anything with cinnamon does it for me) and then we took a drive along the coast.
While driving towards Misty Cliffs we saw a large number of whales playing in the surf. There must have been 10 or more so we stopped to have a look and went for a bit of a walk on the beach.
Then we stopped in at a little place called the Good Hope Nursery. Our one friend is a botanist and she could tell us all sorts of interesting things about the indigenous plants. I must have driven past this place a hundred times and never thought of stopping, but it's so beautiful and peaceful that I'm glad we did.
They also have the Fynbos Ecolodge (in above picture). I definitely want to spend a few nights there tucked away in the hills and fynbos.
All in all it was a fun relaxing trip and the weather played it's part beautifully. Driving around cape point must be one of my favorite things to do here :)
